Carnevale, also known as carnival or Mardi Gras, is celebrated in Italy and many places around the world during the 40 days before Easter. The celebration of Carnevale is a final party before Ash Wednesday and Lent. Carnevale is one of Italy's biggest festivals! Along with elegant masquerades, Carnevale means parades, music, and parties. The expression “a Carnevale ogni scherzo vale” is very appropriate; it means anything goes at Carnevale, including a little mischief. All these events are a chance to be playful and celebrate before the austerity of Lent, the season leading up to Easter.

Venetian Antipasto ~ soppresata, salame, frittata, a tasting of carpaccio, and other Venetian tidbits

2nd course
Zuppa del Carnevale ~ Carnevale Soup with beans, sausage, prosciutto, savoy cabbage, fresh herbs, garlic, and peperoncino served with crust bread.

3rd course
Insalata di Finocchio e Arance ~ blood orange salad with fresh crisp fennel, a hint of onion, evoo, and black pepper.

4th course
Lasagne di Carnevale and Stuffed Arancini ~ Carnevale lasagna with housemade pasta, ragout, cheeses, and mozzarella baked in the oven and served with tiny meatballs accompanied by stuffed arancini.

5th course
Maialino al Forno ~ oven roasted baby suckling pig roasted potatoes, sautéed hearty greens, and a natural pan sauce.

6th course
Carnevale Desserts ~ zeppole and frittelle, treats very popular during Carnevale.
